To get exact level cup measures of sugar, spoon sugar into dry metal or plastic measuring cups, then level by scraping excess sugar from top of cup with a straight-edged knife.

I made a batch of this last night. I was a little concerned about the wording for the prepared juice - I was unsure if the receipe wanted only three cups of prepared juice or the prepared amount of juice plus the 2 cups of water (only 3 cups is correct). The thyme tends to float to the top, even if you turn the jars. I used additional sprigs of thyme to put in the jars before sealing them, but mine just isn't as pretty as the photo. I'm anxious to find some uses for this beyond glazing chicken.
