Sweetheart Strawberry Tarts

Rich strawberry filling topped with a creamy Cool Whip dollop, all in an Oreo crust. If you're looking for a sweetheart, make these part of your plan.

What You Need

OREO Cookies, finely crushed (about 2 cups)

1/3

cup margarine or butter, melted

cups fresh strawberries, divided

1/3

cup sugar

4-1/2

tsp. cornstarch

tsp. lemon juice

1/2

cup water, divided

1/2

cup thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping

Make It

MIX cookie crumbs and margarine; spoon into 12 paper-lined muffin cups, adding about 2 rounded Tbsp. to each. Press onto bottoms and up sides of cups. Refrigerate while preparing filling.

RESERVE 12 of the smallest strawberries for garnish. Slice remaining strawberries. Mix sugar, cornstarch and lemon juice in small bowl; stir in 1/4 cup water. Set aside.

COMBINE 1 cup strawberry slices and remaining water in small saucepan; bring to boil on medium-high heat. Simmer on medium-low heat 3 min., stirring occasionally. Stir in sugar mixture. Return to boil; cook and stir 1 min. or until sauce is clear and thickened. Cool slightly. Meanwhile, pat remaining strawberry slices dry. Spoon evenly into tart shells; top with strawberry glaze. Refrigerate 1 hour.

TOP tarts with COOL WHIP and reserved whole strawberries just before serving.

I typically do very well at following directions and coming out with a pretty good dessert, but this one flopped. The bottoms tasted salty and my glaze didn't glaze. I don't know what happened. I would recommend at least trying them. They were tasty (even with the salty bottoms), but I'll probably only make them again to see what went wrong. It was almost not worth all the hard work. I might recommend using a little less butter, just enough to form a crust(I used unsalted and it still tasted salty).

I live where fresh strawberries are avalible almost year round. I'm always looking for new receipes. This one is wonderful. Takes some time to put together but so worth it. A very high end look and taste.

These went over well at a dinner party I had. They are a little time consuming as was mentioned before. Make sure your cookies are very fine, I think that would make easier. I took the paper off and served on a fancy paper dollie to make a little more fancy.

Awesome finger food - great for get togethers. I made this for my coffee group and it was a HUGE hit. And it is EXTREMELY easy and fast to make!!

DELISH!!! variation: mint choco cookies(used girl scouts'), subbed piped softened cofee icecream for whip cream, topped strawberry layer with pecans, diped the whole strawberry in white choco then drizzled with dark choco. MMMMM... TO DIE FOR!

I LOVE IT!! I am a college student living on my own (and cooking for the first time). This was very simple for me to make and it tasted great. A nice little treat I can keep in my frig!

I did bake the oreo and butter part for about 6 minutes and it held together very well. Mine didn't look as good as the picture shown here, but they tasted very good!

I'm not a big baker or even cooker for that matter, but I'm trying to be. My boyfriend always complains that the only baking I've ever done was out of a box. So for Valetine's Day I wasnted to give him something more involved that he would love. And he did, as did I. It was very simple, and I was so proud of myself, they came out perfect.

There was lot to do for this recipie, but it was WELL worth it! My husband said it was something they would serve at a restaurant.

Absolutely delicious, a wonderful combination of fruit and chocolate
