When I was ten my father sent me to a children's cooking school sponsered by the Houston Lighting and Power Co. We were given a cook book and this recipe was in there back in 1952. My parents allowed me to make it many times until even I was sick of it but when I became a mother of five children, I pulled this out to recycle and loved it all over again. Thanks for the memories. I will probably make it this week-end now that you've brought it to mind again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Loved the green onion and pepper with the tuna. Loved the green onion and pepper with the tuna. It totally works. I used low fat cream of celery soup, but added some Veleeta for extra cheeseiness. Also I didn't have chips in the house, so I tossed together about 10 crushed Ritz and 2 TBS of melted butter to use as the topping instead. Yum! (My two year olds didn't touch it because they saw the pepper and onion. :o(

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This recipe was definitely a keeper! This recipe was definitely a keeper!! I did change it up a little bit...instead of the cream of celery i did cream of mushroom and it had a wonderful flavor! I put cheese below the chips, and instead of the onion I put in frozen peas and carrots!! My boyfriend LOVED it, and he is a pretty picky eater!! Thanks so much for making cookin easy for us young learning cooks!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I made this recipe almost exactly like the recipe indicated. I made this recipe almost exactly like the recipe indicated. I did add a little cheddar cheese before layering the chips. I also used sour cream and onion chipps for a little extra flavor. My kids loved this recipe, telling me that this was their favorite tuna casserole recipe I've made yet. They didn't even mind the red pepper and onion.

I was a little worried, I am not a fan of tuna casserole, and I wasnt sure how it would turn out. But this was great!! The peppers really made it nice. And you couldnt even tell it as made with mac & cheese! This is my new favorite weeknight dinner! I also used Ritz crackers instead of chips to add a buttery crunch

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This recipe was really good! This recipe was really good! I substituted peas for the peppers and onions(my kids don't like them) and I didn't have cream of celery soup so I used cream of chicken. It still turned out great. I knew I would like it because I already like mac n cheese with tuna anyway! We'll definitely be eating this again!

I've made a similar recipe for years that includes a little garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper and a cup of frozen mixed veggies. Using the boxed Kraft mac and cheese mix gives it great flavor. Also, sprinkle whatever kind of cheese I might have on top before adding the crushed chips or cheese cracker.

It was easy to make and I had most of the ingredients on hand. I used frozen broccoli (put in the last minute or two of boiling the noodles) instead of the red peppers and I used dill pickle chips for the topping, which was excellent!!
