Toffee-Almond Brownies

How to make a favorite brownie recipe even better? Slip in some slivered almonds and chopped chocolate-covered toffee bars. That'll do the trick!

What You Need

oz.  BAKER'S Unsweetened Chocolate
cup  butter
cups  sugar
tsp.  vanilla
cup  flour
cup  PLANTERS Slivered Almonds, toasted
 chocolate-covered toffee bars (1.4 oz. each), chopped

Make It

HEAT oven to 350ºF.

MICROWAVE unsweetened chocolate and butter in large microwaveable bowl on HIGH 2 min. or until butter is melted; stir until chocolate is completely melted. Stir in sugar. Blend in eggs and vanilla. Add flour; mix well.

POUR half the batter into 13x9-inch pan sprayed with cooking spray; sprinkle with nuts and toffee. Cover with remaining batter, spreading with spatula if necessary to form even layer.

BAKE 25 to 30 min. or until toothpick inserted in center comes out with fudgy crumbs. (Do not overbake.) Cool completely.

For easy cleanup and removal of dessert from pan, line pan with foil, with ends of foil extending over sides, before spraying pan with cooking spray. Use foil handles to lift dessert from pan before cutting into bars.
How to Toast Nuts
Toasting nuts adds crunch and intensifies their flavor. To toast nuts in the oven, spread nuts in single layer in shallow baking pan. Bake at 350°F for 8 to 10 min. or until golden brown, stirring occasionally. To toast nuts on the stovetop, place nuts in ungreased skillet. Cook on medium heat until golden brown, stirring frequently. To toast nuts in the microwave, place up to 1 cup of nuts in a microwaveable shallow dish. Microwave on HIGH until fragrant and crisp, stirring every 30 sec.
