Turkey Jambalaya Recipe - Kraft Recipes

what you need

1

cup chopped celery

1

cup chopped green pepper

1

cup chopped onion

1

lb. chorizo, cut into small chunks

1

tsp. oil

2

cans (14-1/2 oz. each) stewed tomatoes, undrained

1-1/2

cups water

2

cups chopped cooked turkey

1

Tbsp. Cajun seasoning

3

cups instant white rice, uncooked

Make It

COOK and stir celery, green pepper, onion and chorizo in hot oil in large skillet on medium-high heat 5 minutes or until chorizo is cooked through.

ADD tomatoes with their liquid, the water, turkey and seasoning; mix well. Bring to boil.

STIR in rice. Reduce heat to low; cover. Simmer 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Let stand, covered, 5 minutes. Mix lightly before serving.

I used a little blackening seasoning because I didn't have any cajun. Left the dish a little bland.

After working 8hrs, I'd like to come home and prepare something quick, easy and delicious! Thanks to Kraft for making cooking enjoyable! This recipe was one of those that I will try again and again using a variety of meats!

I made this back in December to get rid of Thanksgiving turkey leftovers and it was really good. i didnt use the chorizo, but it was still really good, and a great alternative to boring turkey recipes.

My family loves the flavor and spicy sausage with left over turkey. I love the quick ease of assembly. I have used chicken boulion/ stock with browning/seasoning sauce (Kitchen Bouquet) in place of the canned tomatoes for a brown jambalaya and then used the tomatoes & tomato juice with shrimp for a different version.

Great "base" recipe; can interchange chicken for the turkey (however turkey is great), substitue extra virgin olive oil for oil (healthier); one reader substituted brown rice for white rice, you can use this jambalya over white/wheat pasta and the sauce freezes well. Recipe has great "zip" and you can flavor to your own tastes easily without ruinning the dish.
