What You Need

pkg.  (2-layer size) yellow cake mix
2
tsp.  ground cinnamon
1
tsp.  ground ginger
1/4
tsp.  ground cloves
2
pkg.  (3.4 oz. each) JELL-O Butterscotch Instant Pudding
1/3
cup  sugar
2
cups  cold milk
1
cup  water
2
 Granny Smith apples, peeled, finely chopped

Make It

HEAT oven to 350°F.

MIX dry cake mix and spices, then use to prepare cake batter as directed on package; pour into 13x9-inch baking dish sprayed with cooking spray.

BEAT dry pudding mixes, sugar, milk and water in medium bowl with whisk 2 min. Stir in apples; spoon evenly over batter. Place dish on rimmed baking sheet.

BAKE 1 hour 10 min. to 1 hour 15 min. or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool slightly. (Sauce will thicken slightly as it cools.)

The baking sheet is placed under the baking dish to catch any juices that might bubble over the sides of the dish as the dessert bakes.
Food Facts
Since Granny Smith apples hold their shape when baked, they work well in this baked dessert. Or if you have Golden Delicious apples, you can use them instead.
Shortcut
Prepare using a spice cake mix instead of the yellow cake and spices.
