Make It

Tap or click steps to mark as complete

  • Heat oven to 350°F.
  • Prepare cake batter as directed on package; pour into 13x9-inch baking dish sprayed with cooking spray. Beat dry pudding mixes, sugar, milk and water with whisk 2 min.; pour over cake batter. Place on rimmed baking sheet.
  • Bake 55 min. to 1 hour or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 min. Meanwhile, heat broiler.
  • Top cake with marshmallows. Broil, 6 inches from heat, 30 sec. to 1 min. or until marshmallows are golden brown. Melt chocolate as directed on package; drizzle over marshmallows. Cool 15 min.

Note

The baking sheet is placed under the baking dish to catch any sauce that might bubble over the sides of the dish as the dessert bakes.

How to Reheat Leftover Cake

The longer the cake sits, the thicker the fudge sauce gets. To reheat leftover cake, microwave each serving on microwaveable plate on HIGH 15 to 20 sec. or just until warmed. Serve immediately.

How to Easily Drizzle the Melted Chocolate

Pour melted chocolate into resealable plastic bag; snip off small corner from bottom of bag. Use to drizzle chocolate over marshmallows.

The trick to drizzling the chocolate on top is to put the melted chocolate into a freezer bag, snip a corner off of the bottom of the bag and then squeeze the chocolate onto the cake. The smaller the snip the smaller the line. Easy peasy. The trick to making the pudding not be a congealed mess is to put your cake batter in the pan before you make the pudding...be sure to pour the pudding mix onto the cake batter before it starts to thicken...you have to work quickly.

I followed the advice from other reviewers and made the pudding after I poured the cake mix, then poured it on and baked it immediately. It baked perfectly and the texture was as I expected. However, this wasn't as rich as I had hoped. The pudding is sugary but not the rich, chocolately flavor I was anticipating. So although it turned out well, it didn't taste as decadent and flavorful as I wanted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from After reading the above reviews I decided to make this cake as a "poke" cake. After reading the above reviews I decided to make this cake as a "poke" cake. I baked the cake according to the package, then with a wooden spoon poked holes in the warm cake. Mixed the pudding and poured over the warm cake. Topped with marshmellows and chopped the chocolate, which I sprinkled over the marshmellows before placing under the boiler. It was a huge hit with everyone!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from BeThis is a great cake and very easy to make. BeThis is a great cake and very easy to make. Be sure you pour your cake batter BEFORE you mix the pudding since you need to pour the pudding quickly before it has time to thicken. I did not and, although it was still tasty, the pudding was too thick toward the center of the pan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Again the 'Official Taste Testers" gave this recipe TWO thumbs up. Again the 'Official Taste Testers" gave this recipe TWO thumbs up. One doesn't like marshmallows, but it didn't stop him from eating what was under them. He loves chocolate. I try to photograph all these wonderful treats, and let other cooks know about Kraft and Food& Family.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The amount of pudding is unreal because you can't buy that amount in one box. The amount of pudding is unreal because you can't buy that amount in one box. Think it is a mistake and I used the small boxes and used two. Not sure why they want more sugar because it is sweet. If I do another, I would not use the extra sugar.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This recipe was absolutely horrid! This recipe was absolutely horrid! It was a disaster from the very beginning. I would not recommend this recipe or ever try to make it again. The cake over cooked, the pudding never set....plain disgusting!
