Watergate Cake

This classic tube cake made with yellow cake mix, instant pistachio pudding mix, club soda and walnuts is dusted with powdered sugar before serving.

pkg. (2-layer size) yellow cake mix

pkg. (4-serving size) JELL-O Pistachio Flavor Instant Pudding

cup club soda

1/2

cup oil

eggs

1/2

cup chopped PLANTERS Walnuts

Tbsp. powdered sugar

Make It

PREHEAT oven to 350°F. Place cake mix, dry pudding mix, soda, oil and eggs in large bowl. Beat with electric mixer on low speed just until moistened. Beat on medium speed 2 minutes, scraping side of bowl occasionally. Gently stir in walnuts.

POUR batter into greased and floured fluted tube pan or 10-inch tube pan.

BAKE 40 to 45 minutes or until toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Remove cake from pan; cool completely on wire rack. Sprinkle with powdered sugar just before serving.

I just made this today. I haven't seen this recipe in years and searched for it. It was just as yummy as it was years ago. My daughter and I had a piece right out of the oven...sooo good!!

This was a hit at the party I took it to. Everyone loved it. I received so many compliments!!! I followed the recipe to the "T". So easy! I just added extra walnuts! The presentation looked beautiful too. I made it using the fluted tube cake pan.

I made this for a family reunion and everyone loved it. I added the cool whip with a box of pudding for the topping. It was delicious. Very moist. My hubby is a picky eater and really enjoyed it. Unfortunately I had no leftovers.

I like to add frosting to this - I mix together 1 1/2 cups milk, 2 envelopes dream whip mix and 1 box pistachio instant pudding mix.

I made this for a carry-in picnic at a friends home this summer. There were around 100 people there with all kinds of desserts, etc. Everyone was asking who made the cake! One little girl ate three pieces and her Mom said she HAD to have the recipe. A note though, in my oven I had to bake it another 20 minutes. EASY!
