Watermelon Pops

You'll start summer with a splash with these adorable pops. Jell-O Gelatin pairs with a cool, creamy center for delish on a stick.

What You Need

cup sugar, divided

pkg. (3 oz.) JELL-O Lime Flavor Gelatin

cups boiling water, divided

Ice cubes

cup cold water, divided

pkg. (3 oz.) JELL-O Strawberry Flavor Gelatin

Tbsp. miniature semi-sweet chocolate chips

oz. (1/2 of 8-oz. pkg.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened

cups thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping

Make It

step 1

MIX 1/3 cup sugar and lime gelatin mix in medium bowl. Add 1 cup boiling water; stir 2 min. until completely dissolved. Add enough ice to 1/2 cup cold water to measure 3/4 cup. Add to lime gelatin; stir until ice is completely melted. Refrigerate 25 min.

MEANWHILE, repeat Step 1 using strawberry gelatin mix and omitting the refrigeration step. Pour into 16 (3-oz.) paper cups. Freeze 20 min. Stir 1/2 tsp. chocolate chips into gelatin in each cup.

step 3

BEAT cream cheese and remaining sugar with mixer in medium bowl until blended. Stir in COOL WHIP; spread over gelatin in cups.

step 4

POUR lime gelatin over cream cheese mixture. Insert wooden pop stick into gelatin in center of each cup. Freeze 3 hours or until firm. Remove pops from cups just before serving.

Note

Look for wooden pop sticks in craft or hobby stores. If you don't have pop sticks, you can use plastic spoons for handles instead.

How to Easily Remove Frozen Pops from Cups

Dip cups in warm water for 15 sec. Peel off cups.(Do not twist or pull pop sticks.)

Delicious! Easy to make following the recipe exactly as written. I used sugar free watermelon flavored jello and Splenda rather than extra sugar - turned out great! I will definately be making these again and will try out different flavors.

This is great! My boys loved them. A couple of tips... put the cream cheese mixture in a freezer bag, cut a corner, and squeeze it onto the red jello. Also, the green jello needs to be in the fridge for 45 min or until it looks like jelly. Then the cream cheese won't float.

did not make it yet, but I bet you could also put it in a 8 X 8 pan, may be easier.

I loved this recipe! its was very fun to make but not a lot of people liked the taste of the cream cheese so the next time I made It I used whipped cream! it tasted so much better!! and it was adorable!

After giving this a one star rating, I let if freeze for about seven hours and they finally set up. Much better after they froze that long. Still had to pick the Styrofoam cups off and made a mess with that. It was good, but I'm still not sure if it's worth all that :)

Great taste, fun and unique. Try piping the cream with an icing bag. Makes a great seal. Don't make the last layer too thin it will be too light and the whip cream will float. good luck

These take time but are worth it! My kids always ask for them :) Going to try the splenda someone suggested!

This was good in theory but it was a disaster. The white layer does not spread well and when I put my green layer on the white layer just floated to the top, making a mess. I followed the directions exactly and even tried freezing the red and white layers longer before adding the green. I had to throw it all out.

Good recipe! If you add the ice, do NOT put in the fridge or freezer to long. Makes it impossible to pour and you cannot get the chocolate down. You do not need as much of the icing, you will have some left over. Do not freeze as long, they will become to hard.
