  • Meanwhile, line bottom of 13x9-inch dish with cake. Add sliced strawberries and 1 cup blueberries to thickened gelatin; stir gently. Spoon over cake. Refrigerate 4 hours or until gelatin is firm.
  • Beat cream cheese and sugar in large bowl with whisk until blended. Stir in COOL WHIP; spread over gelatin. Arrange strawberry halves on cream cheese mixture to resemble stripes of flag. Add remaining blueberries for stars.

Ratings & Reviews

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I mostly liked this recipe. I mostly liked this recipe. Next time I will use something else for the crust. My mom made a Halloween version of this when I was a kid and she used crushed Oreos. I prefer it like that over the soggy cake. I will also use an electric mixer for the "cheesecake." I had to use frozen blueberries and I think I would have preferred them to fresh on this anyway. The biggest problem I had is that everyone at my party, myself included, are chocoholics and stuck to the ice cream, smores, and brownies. Only 3 pieces of this got eaten. :(

Everyone loves this cake so much that I have to make it several times during the summer. Instead of making a "flag" with the berries I just place 20-40 blueberries and 20 strawberry halves on the top to make out the 20 portions. This way I can serve it for different occasions such as graduation parties, Father's Day, baby & bridal showers, etc. My local supermarket also sells both strawberry and blueberry pound cake which is absolutely delicious in this recipe. I never seem to have any left over to bring home!!

While this was very good and I had an absolute blast making it I wasn't as crazy about it as I thought I'd be. For me personally I would've preferred more pound cake and less Jello. So next time I try this I think I'll buy more pound cake and slice it a little bit thicker and not use quite as much Jello. My husband thought the same too. Other than that this recipe was very good, the flavor combinations work great together and I can't wait to see if I can personally make this one work better for me and my husband.

I made this for the first time on the 4th to bring to a friends house for a cookout, and boy was it a big hit! I used 1 box of strawberry jello and one box of raspberry, just to give it a little bit of tang with the sweet of the jello and coolwhip. I made the pound cake the night before so I could refrigerate it so it wouldn't get soggy with the jello & fruit on it, and it stayed nice and firm till it was gone the following day. Great recipe!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I made this cake for work and for july 4th. I made this cake for work and for july 4th. Everyone loved it. One thing, after you stir the ice cubes in the jello, it took about 30 minutes to gel enough to put on top of pound cake. I then let it gel for about 4 hours before putting white layer on. It stayed together beautifully when served, although it didn't last long either time I made it! It disappeared very quickly. I also love that it is patriotic and salutes our country!!!!!!!

I have been making this for 4th of July for several years now and it is always a big hit. This cheesecake version is much better than the origianl one. Does take a little time to cut the strawberries and make the flag, but very appealing. I have one friend that asks me to make it all year round, so this past month I made him one for his birthday but just dotted the strawberries and blueberries around on the top (faster).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I modified this recipe for my husband, who is diabetic and cannot have a lot of sugar. I modified this recipe for my husband, who is diabetic and cannot have a lot of sugar. I used sugar free gelatin, sugar free cool whip, and splenda instead of sugar. I could not find sugar free pound cake so I used sugar free angel food cake instead and it came out awesome!! I am making this again for our 4th of July bbq, and it has become a family favorite and now tradition. Very delicious!
