I have made this recipe for years & my family & friends love it, however I use yams & put 1/2 the whipped potatoes in a pie dish , then add the minature marshmallows, top with the rest of the potatoes & they just melt into the potatoes with out the worry of them getting too brown as in the way you described by adding on top. Also I add 1/4 to 1/2 cup brown sugar. The first time I made these my eldest son commented 'before' eating that I ruined his potatoes by preparing them in this manner. He after tasting them could not get enough of them & expects them now as part of our regular Thanksgiving & Christmas meal. :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This was on our Thanksgiving table. This was on our Thanksgiving table. I actually made it ahead and froze it, then thawed it on Thanksgiving and put it in the oven after the turkeys came out. I had to put it into the microwave after the marshmallows were looking toasted, but it was not heated through. I thought it was odd the way the marshmallows all stuck together. It was delicious. The spices were perfect and it reheated beautifully (not that there was a lot left to reheat). This is a keeper!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good. Very good. I made this for Christmas dinner with fresh sweet potatoes & then again the other day with canned sweet potatoes. It turned out great both times. I add a dollop of butter or margarine in the middle before placing the marshmallows (I use minis) on top to brown. Give a little stir when it comes out of the oven to get the melted marshmallows into the potatoes a bit instead of letting them sit there to get hard. My toddler loves it! -A cook in St. Louis, MO

My family has always stuck to the usual cut up candied yams (with the nuts, brown sugar, marshmallows, etc.) and since this is the first Thanksgiving my hubby and I hosted I decided to try something a little different. I was a little nervous because my family is very picky about the side dishes and how they are prepared but it was a hit! Thank you so much Kraft! I will surely be making this again! PS: They loved the Broccoli & Cheese casserole too!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My family said this was more a dessert than a side dish. My family said this was more a dessert than a side dish. I baked it 15 minutes and then turned the oven off for 30 minutes, and the marshmallows got crusty on top and were absolutely fabulous. Even those who do not like regular sweet potatoes like it, since there were no strings as there are with whole sweet potatoes. Thanks for a great Thanksgiving and Christmas dish. I served it for both and didn't have anything left over.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I started making this recipe 3 years ago. I started making this recipe 3 years ago. Now it is a tradion in my family. They all say it would not be Thanksgiving without my wonderful Whipped Sweet Potato Bake. Even the kids ask every year, to make sure that we are going to have it. (Little do they know they are eating veggies and asking for seconds! LOL) Thanks for the wonderful recipe! ~ A mom always looking how to sneek a good veggie in and make it taste good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I make this recipe every year at Thanksgiving and other special holidays. I make this recipe every year at Thanksgiving and other special holidays. It is always a hit in my home and it is requested often. I do a couple of things differently though. I add milk, eggs, sugar, and lemon juice to the recipe and I don't put the marshmallows on until after it is thoroughly cooked- about 30 minutes. Then I put on the marshmallows except I love the big puffed ones and I let it brown. Yum!
