  • Heat oven to 350ºF.
  • Line 13x9-inch pan with foil, with ends of foil extending over sides; spray with cooking spray.
  • Chop 4 oz. chocolate. Combine flour and baking soda. Beat next 4 ingredients in large bowl with mixer until blended. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in chopped chocolate and nuts. Press onto bottom of prepared pan.
  • Bake 15 to 18 min. or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely.
  • Use foil handles to remove dessert from pan before cutting into bars. Melt remaining chocolate as directed on package; drizzle over bars.

Special Equipment Needed

Soften Butter in Microwave

To soften butter, microwave 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter on DEFROST (20% power) for 45 sec. or until slightly softened.

How to Line Pan with Foil

Here's an easy way to line a pan with foil. Turn the pan upside down and fit a piece of foil over the top, smoothing the corners as needed. Remove the foil. When you turn the pan over, the foil fits perfectly inside the pan!

How to Measure Brown Sugar

When measuring brown sugar, pack firmly into a dry measuring cup and level off for an accurate measurement.

Ratings & Reviews

Rated 4 out of 5 by from easy dessert This was a very easy recipe. The bars are very moist. I did use white chocolate chips instead of the bakers chocolate and used cinnamon chips in place of the white chocolate drizzle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Moist, Delicious, & Essy I've made these numerous times and they are always a huge hit! They are easy to make and definitely a yummy treat! I've made them with the Baker's White Chocolate bar, as well as white chocolate chips...both work equally well. I will add that many people mistake the butterscotch for peanut butter. If you don't like peanut butter desserts, these may not be a good choice. But we love them! :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic bar cookie! Have made this more times then I can remember in the last 2 yrs. A favorite with a high school group who the cookie now bears there name. Even great with less white chocolate, as the kids prefer. Goes in our permany collection.
