This virtually foolproof white sauce makes the perfect base for your favorite cheese sauce, creamed cooked vegetable, scalloped potatoes or hearty casserole.
Add one or more of the following ingredients to the prepared white sauce: lemon zest, dill weed or other dried herbs, chopped fresh herbs, GREY POUPON Dijon Mustard, KRAFT Prepared Horseradish, or your favorite hot pepper sauce.
Prepare recipe as directed. Remove from heat. Add 1 pkg. (8 oz.) KRAFT Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese or 2 cups of your favorite blend of KRAFT Shredded Cheeses; stir until melted. Or for a creamier cheese sauce, substitute 1/4 lb. (4 oz.) cubed VELVEETA® for 1 cup of the shredded cheese; cook on medium-low heat until completely melted, stirring constantly.
