Preheat oven to 375o F. Mix dry ingredients thoroughly. Cut in shortening (1/3 at a time if making more than one batch). Mix in milk. If dough is too dry, add more milk a few drops at a time until moist, but not wet.
Roll dough out to 1/4 in. thick and cut with biscuit cutter or floured glass or drop dough onto ungreased cookie sheet in large clumps. Cook 10 - 12 minutes or until golden brown.
