Original recipe yields 1 serving
1 cup butter
1 3/4 cups sugar
4 eggs
3 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cans pie cherries

Cream butter and sugar. Then add eggs one at a time. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Add to mixture slowly. Add vanilla.

Spread evenly in jelly roll pan, reserving approximately 1 1/2 cups of batter for top. Spread out the cherries on batter then drop reserved batter by teaspoons on the cherries.

Bake in 350°F oven for 35 to 40 minutes.
