2/3 cup margarine
2/3 cup shortening
2 eggs
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 tsp vanilla
3 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
Chocolate chips*

Preheat oven 350°F. Mix margarine, shortening, eggs, both sugars, and vanilla together. Add flour, salt, baking soda. Mix together. Add chips and nuts (if desired).

Drop by tablespoon on ungreased baking pan.

Bake 11 to 12 minutes only till light brown on top. Cookies will be soft and chewy. Put on cooling rack.
