Original recipe yields 1 serving
3 eggs
6 oz shortening (weight)
5 Tbsp water
2 l/4 tsp. imitation vanilla flavoring
1 lb , 1 1/2 oz. granulated sugar
1 lb , 5 oz. general purpose wheat flour
1 1/4 tsp iodized table salt
7/8 oz baking powder (weight)
7/8 oz dry milk, NF (weight)
1 1/3 oz granulated sugar (weight) - for dipping each cookie piece

Place ingredients in mixer bowl in order listed. Beat at low speed 1 to 2 min. or until smooth. Scrape down bowl once during mixing.

Divide dough into 2 pieces, form into rolls and slice each roll into 12 pieces. Dip each piece in sugar; place sugared side up in rows on greased pans. Flatten cookies to about 1/4 in. thickness.

Bake at 400°F for 10 to 12 min. or until lightly browned. "Do not over bake." Loosen cookies from pans while still warm.
