Cream the shortening, sugar, egg, milk, & vanilla together in a large bowl. In a second bowl sift together the dry ingredients. Add the sifted dry ingredients slowly into the creamed ingredients.
Drop by tablespoonful onto ungreased cookie sheet bake at 425°F for 10-15 min. Allow to cool
Cream together the filling mixture. Take two of the cooled cakes, ice one of the flat sides with the cream filling and add the other to make like a sandwich.
