Dough: Mix egg with milk and add to flour to make a pliable dough. Roll dough to about 1/8" thick. Cut dough into 6 round or oval pieces.
Place 2-3 cherries into each piece, fold in half, and pinch edge together tightly.
Boil pot of water. Place cherry dumplings into boiling water, 1 at a time. Lightly stir. Boil until dumplings float to top and continue boiling 10 minutes longer.
Serve with about 1 teaspoon or tablespoon of melted butter atop.
