Put hash brown chunks and butter in a sauce pan at low-high heat. Melt. In another pan, add soup, sour cream, milk, cheese and seasonings. Cook until the cheese is melted.
Put potatoes in a casserole pan. Then pour sauce mixture over potatoes.
Cover and bake in a 350 degrees F oven for 25 minutes or until brown.
