Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Tear the slices of bread into small pieces. Place bread into an oven casserole. Set to the side to prepare the other ingredients.
Cream the eggs, sugar, and cocoa together. After creaming, add the other ingredients. Pour mixture over pieces of bread in casserole dish.
Bake in oven for about 30 minutes. It may take about 45 minutes in some instances.
Sauce: Cream the sugar and softened butter together and add the vanilla. Before serving, add the sauce to the top of the bread pudding.
