Mouth-Watering Waffles

9 oz /250g strawberries
7 oz /200g (about 3 stalks) rhubarb
1/2 cup sugar
12 frozen waffles
2 tsp flaked almonds, toasted

Cut the tops from the strawberries and cut each strawberry in half. Cut the rhubarb into small pieces about 3/4-inch/2cm long.

Put a medium saucepan on the stove. Put the strawberries, rhubarb and sugar in the pan and turn the heat to low. Stir the mixture until the sugar is dissolved. Turn the heat to medium and simmer for 10 min until the mixture is thickened.

Meanwhile, cook the waffles in a toaster until crisp. Then serve the waffles with the strawberry rhubarb topping and sprinkle the almonds on top.
