Original recipe yields 1 serving
Crust:
4 cups self-rising flour
1 cup shortening or oil
1 cup milk
Filling:
6 eggs, beaten
1.5 cups sugar
1/8 tsp fresh grated nutmeg
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 Tbsp vanilla or almond flavoring
6 cups fresh, sliced peaches

Prepare curst and press into bottom & sides of rectangular cake pan.

Beat eggs, sugar, spices & flavoring together. Arrange peach slices on the crust. Pour egg mixture over peaches. Lift slices slightly to allow some custard to seep underneath them.

Place in 375°F oven for 1 hour. Check to see if the custard is set by inserting a knife in the center. If it comes out clean, the custard is ready. Serve warm or cold, plain (best!), or with a warm sauce or vanilla ice cream.
