3 medium onions
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 tsp salt
1 Tbsp sugar
2 Tbsp flour
1 qt beef stock or two cans of beef broth
1/2 cup dry vermouth

Slice onions thinly and saute in butter, covered until soft.

Add salt and sugar and cook fifteen minutes covered.

Stir in flour and cook three minutes.

Add all ingredients to a slow cooker and cook on low for 6-8 hours.
