Cream together molasses, sugar, eggs, and shortening. Add baking soda, cinnamon, spices and flour. Chill at least 2 hours.
Roll into balls, roll in sugar. Place on lightly greased cookie sheet (do not regrease after first batch) Flatten with bottom of a glass.
Bake 350°F for 12-15 minutes.
