Original recipe yields 1 serving
3/4 cup skim milk
1/4 cup whole milk
1 package dry yeast
Flour, as much as needed for soft consistency
Powdered sugar
Canola oil (enough to deep fry zeppole)

Heat milk until tepid (NOT HOT). Add yeast and stir until dissolved. Add flour tablespoon at a time until soft consistency (should drop into oil when pushed off spoon). DO NOT stir briskly...blend flour by folding into milk mixture.

Heat oil so that zeppole rises to top when dropped into oil. Drop zeppole from teaspoon into oil. Brown on both sides and drain on paper towels.

Sprinkle powdered sugar over zeppole and shake to cover both sides. Serve Immediately.
