Using a large mixing bowl, melt 1/2 stick of margarine and mix with tater tots, soup, sour cream and cheddar cheese. Pour mixture into a 9" x 13" cake pan.
Melt the remaining 1/4 stick of margarine. Mix with cornflakes and spread over the top of the tater tot mixture.
Bake at 350°F for about 35-40 minutes.
