Original recipe yields 1 serving
medium 3 or 4 apples (3 cups)
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup all purpose flour
1 egg
3/4 cup sugar
1 tsp baking powder
2 tsp margarine, or butter, cut up into small "pats"

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Use a regular ungreased bread pan for best topping results.

Peel and core the apples, then cut into eighths. Place into bread pan. Dump in the brown sugar and vanilla, toss with apples until well coated.

Mix the flour, egg, sugar and baking powder in a small bowl until the egg is the size of rice. Spread this mixture over the apples as evenly as possible. Place the pats of butter onto this topping, spacing them evenly so that the butter will reach as much of the topping as possible as it melts. Sprinkle as much cinnamon as you like on top.

Place into oven, bake 30 minutes or until golden brown and the apples are boiling.
