Original recipe yields 1 serving
6 McIntosh apples, cored and insides cut out
Juice of 1/2 lemon
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
2 Tbsp sugar
1/3 cup orange juice (optional)
1/2 cup plain oatmeal
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 stick butter
1 pint vanilla ice cream

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. In a mixing bowl, combine inside of apples, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar, orange juice, and oatmeal. Stir together and put mixture back into inside of apples.

In a small mixing bowl, mix flour, brown sugar, and butter together using the tines of a fork and your fingers working until small crumbles are formed. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the top of the apples and bake 15 to 20 minutes until they are just tender and topping is golden brown.

Serve apple crisps with small scoops of vanilla ice cream. Yum!
