Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, water, shortening, and egg into a large mixing bowl. Blend with electric mixer, medium speed, for 2 minutes.
Spread batter into a 9" pie pan. Gently pour the desired fruit filling, into the center of the pan.
Bake at 400°F for 40-45 minutes.
