Heat oil in large skillet over medium heat. Fry chicken until browned. Drain fat and place chicken in 13x9x2 in pan.
Melt butter in saucepan. Saute chopped onions until tender. Add remaining ingredients. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
Pour over chicken and bake 350°F for 1 hour or until chicken is tender. Baste occasionally.
