Original recipe yields 1 serving
CHOCOLATE COOKIE DOUGH:
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
3 tsp vanilla
3 cups flour
1 cup unsweetened cocoa
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
3-4 jars (10 oz. each) maraschino cherries, drained (reserve juice)
FROSTING:
1 cup chocolate chips
1 1/2 cups sweetened condensed milk
1/4 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp cherry juice

Cream butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Add flour, cocoa, salt, baking powder and soda. Blend at low speed until dough forms (dough will be stiff). Shape into one-inch balls. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Push one cherry halfway into each ball.

Frost cookies BEFORE baking. After all cookies are molded and cherries are in place, make frosting and use immediately spread 1/2 tsp. of frosting over each cherry. Frosting will spread during baking. Bake frosted cookies at 350°F for 8- 10 minutes.

In saucepan on low heat, melt chocolate chips and condensed milk, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Add salt and cherry juice and stir until smooth. Use frosting right away, it will harden quickly.
