Bring water in large pot to a boil. Add spaghetti noodles (when your middle finger and thumb touch around the noodles, this is the right amount of pasta), stirring until submerged in water, and stirring occasionally.
Brown ground beef and drain. Add tomato sauce, mushrooms, sugar and seasonings to taste. Bring to a simmer.
When noodle will stick to the wall when thrown (my grandma taught me this), the pasta is done. Drain pasta, and pour sauce mixture in pot. Mix noodles and sauce well, and serve!
