1 box German chocolate cake mix
3/4 cup butter, melted
1 small pkg. chopped nuts (optional)
3/4 cup + 1/3 cup evaporated milk, divided
1 pkg (14 oz.) caramels
1 pkg (12 oz.) chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350°F. Combine cake mix, melted butter, nuts, & 3/4 cup evaporated milk.

Press 1/2 of cake mixture into a 9 x 13 greased pan (use fingers). Bake for 6 minutes only.

Melt caramels & 1/3 cup evaporated milk, constantly stir so not to burn. Pour melted caramel, chocolate chips & sprinkle remaining cake mixture. Bake 15 minutes more.
