1-1/2 teaspoon s baking soda
2 cups sugar
12 oz vegetable oil
4 eggs
1 can (11-13 oz.) evaporated milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 jar (10 oz.) poppy seed filling
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Stir dry ingredients together, add all liquids, and mix until smooth. Add poppy seed filling and nuts; mix.

Turn batter into greased floured 10-inch tube pan.

Bake at 350 degrees F for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until done. Cool cake 5-8 minutes before removing from pan.
