Dissolve yeast, sugar, and oil in warm water. Mix 5 cups flour into above. Let rise for 1 hour in a warm place.
Stir in salt and 5 cups of flour, and then knead in remaining 3 cups of flour with your hands. Add more flour if dough is sticky and knead until dough is smooth. Grease dough all over and let rise in large bowl until double in bulk.
Punch down and shape into rolls. Grease sides and top and place in a well greased pan. Let rise until double in size.
Bake at 400 degrees F for 10 minutes, and then reduce to 375 degrees F and bake until done. Turn out and grease top while hot.
