Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Boil raisins which are covered with water for one minute. Drain the liquid off (reserve raisin juice) and let cool.
Cream sugar and margarine, add eggs, vanilla and raisin juice; beat until fluffy. Sift together salt, baking soda, spices and flour. Add to creamed mixture and beat until smooth. Stir in boiled raisins and oatmeal.
Drop by teaspoon on greased cookie sheet.
Bake for 10 to 12 minutes. Do not over bake.
