Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg and beat well. Sift together flour, salt, cinnamon and baking powder. Add to creamed mixture. Chill for 1 hour.
Roll out on a floured board to 1/8-inch thick and cut into desired shapes. Place on ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake at 350°F for 11-12 minutes or until light brown. Remove cookies from pan immediately. Cool on wire rack. Store in airtight container.
