Preheat oven to 450°F. Wash and dry potatoes rub with vegetable oil or shortening. Wrap each potato in aluminum foil and bake for 45-60 minutes until tender when a fork is inserted. Remove potatoes from oven and allow to cool for a few minutes.
Brown ground sausage and drain. Cut each potato in half length wise and scoop out the middle and put into a large bowl. Add sausage, cream of mushroom soup, mix until blended. Salt and pepper to taste. Spoon mixture back into potato skins put onto a baking sheet. Top each half with a half a slice of cheese.
Bake for 10-15 minutes until heated through.
