1/2 stick butter
16 ounces yellow cornmeal
8 ounces water
2 ounces corn oil
2 Tbsp all purpose flour
1 Tbsp sugar
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
Pinch of salt
8 ounces buttermilk
1 L arge grade A egg

Place a 12" round Pyrex baking dish or 13 x 9 pan in a 350 degrees F oven with the 1/2 stick butter until butter melts.

Once the butter has melted, add the melted butter to the other ingredients and mix together. Pour the mixture into the buttered baking dish.

Place on bottom rack of oven. When it starts to turn a little brown, place on top rack until golden brown. Cooking time 35-40 minutes.
