Cut the sausage into bite size pieces and cook in a large skillet with onion and garlic. Drain and return to the pan. Add the frozen vegetables and water, cover and cook over medium heat.
While mix is cooking, boil the penne pasta as directed on the box, drain and add to the meat pan. Continue cooking till the vegetables are steamed through and add mushrooms and artichoke hearts and warm through.
Serve in large bowls, with Italian bread or sour dough for a delicious meal.
