What You Need

Original recipe yields 1 serving
1/2 cup sliced almonds
3 Tbsp sugar
1/2 head iceberg lettuce
1/2 head romaine lettuce
cup 1/2 to 1 chopped celery
2 whole green onion (2 stalks)
1 can (11 oz.) mandarin oranges, drained
Dressing:
1/2 tsp salt
Dash pepper
1/4 cup vegetable
1 Tbsp chopped parsley (or sprinkle dried)
2 Tbsp Sugar
2 Tbsp vinegar (Red wine or apple cider)
Dash of Tabasco (optional)

Let's Make It

In a small pan over medium heat, cook almonds and sugar, stirring constantly until almonds are coated and sugar dissolved. Watch carefully as they will burn easily. Cool (if using later, store in air tight container.)

Mix all dressing ingredients and chill.

Mix lettuces, celery and onions. Just before serving, add almonds and oranges. Toss with the dressing.
