1 cup chopped onion
1 cup chopped celery
2 cups diced potatoes
2 cans (6.5 oz. each) clams
3/4 cup butter
3/4 cup flour
1 qt half-and-half
1 1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp sugar

Dice vegetables and put in a pan. Drain clam juice and pour over vegetables. Add enough water to cover vegetables. Simmer until potatoes are tender (about 20 minutes).

In another pan melt butter, add flour and stir together. Then with a whisk stir in half-and-half and salt until smooth and thick.

Add vegetables and clams into sauce. Add sugar and heat through.
