Peel potatoes and cut into fourths. Boil potatoes until soft (should fall off fork when poked). Once potatoes are done strain and mash with 3/4 of bacon crumbles, sour cream, butter, salt, milk and pureed onions.
Spread potatoes evenly into a 9x13 baking pan or a casserole dish. Top potatoes with cheddar cheese and remaining bacon crumbles.
