Original recipe yields 1 serving
1 whole chicken
3 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp salt
3 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup shortening (oil)
3/4 cup milk

Boil whole chicken, (approx.: frozen - 1 hour, thawed- 1/2 hour) remove from broth. Debone chicken and return to water.

Dumplings:

Mix flour, salt, and baking powder. Cut in oil. Mix in milk. Roll out onto floured wax paper and cut into strips.

Lightly drop dumplings into LOW boiling broth. If adding vegetables, add them now. Let boil about 5 minutes or until dumplings are cooked.
