1 1/2 lb sauerkraut (can buy at the market, bring container for juice)
1 whole garlic clove
1 medium onion, chopped fine
1/4 cup butter
1/3 cup flour
Salt & pepper to taste

Rinse sauerkraut well. Add garlic clove. Bring to boil in a pot with enough water to cover, and then turn down to simmer for 1 hour or longer.

When sauerkraut is tender, brown onion in butter, and then add flour. Add to sauerkraut and mix well.

Add pepper and dash of salt to taste at this time. Add some softened mushrooms at this time. Amount is up to you.
