Original recipe yields 1 serving
1 cup (200 gms) basmati rice
1 tsp oil
1 brinji leaf (bay leaf)
1 onion, cut it straight
2 green chilies, cut it straight
1/4 tsp ginger garlic paste
1 bunch spinach (palak), cut into pieces
1/2 cup peas
Salt as required

Let's Make It
Soak basmati rice in water, clean & drain the water then put it aside. In electric rice cooker, pour 1 1/2 cups of water & allow it to boil. Don’t add too much of water otherwise it would become paste.
Meanwhile, put oil in a pan & keep it in microwave for 30 sec. Then add cloves, brinji leaf, onion, and green chilies. Mix well & again put it in microwave for 30 sec.
Add ginger garlic paste, spinach (palak) & peas. Mix well & keep it in microwave for 1 min. Then add the rice to the mixture & mix well. Put this mixture in the boiling water. You can add garam masal if required. Add required salt. If needed, you can add some ghee. Close the lid & leave it to cook for 15-20 min. Remove and discard brinji leaf. Garnish with tomato.
