1/2 cup butter (1 stick), softened at room temperature
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup white sugar
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 large egg
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/8 cups flour
1 1/4 cups chopped walnuts (optional)
1 package (12 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Let's Make It
Preheat the oven to 365°F. In a large mixing bowl combine butter, both sugars, vanilla, egg, baking soda, and salt. Once combined, mix together by hand. When it is evenly mixed, slowly add the flour (a little at a time). Next, add the walnuts and mix thoroughly. Finally, add the chocolate chips and stir together.
Drop teaspoons onto ungreased baking sheet. (Leave enough space between so the cookies don't get stuck to each other when baking.)
Put in the oven and bake for 11-12 minutes; they should be a little brown around the edges. Take out of the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for a couple minutes, then transfer to a wire cooking rack. Store at room temperature in a sealed container for best flavor.
