1 package (10 oz.) frozen strawberrries, thawed and pureed

1/4 cup frozen strawberries, thawed and pureed, divided

Preheat oven 350 degrees F. Lightly grease 2 (9 inch) round cake pans. In large bowl, combine cake mix and gelatin, Add pureed strawberries, eggs, oil, and water. Beat at medium speed.
Pour into pans and bake 20 minutes, or until wooden tooth pick inserted comes out clean. Cool in pans 10 minutes, remove, and then cool completely on wire racks.
In large bowl, beat butter and cream cheese at medium speed till creamy. Beat in the strawberry puree and the strawberry extract. Gradually add confectioners' sugar, beating till smooth. Spread between layers and on top and sides of cake. Make extra pretty with some fresh sliced strawberries on top of cake.
