Original recipe yields 1 serving
1 package large pasta shells
1/2 teaspoon dry minced garlic
1 large onion, chopped and divided
2 tablespoons cooking oil
3 cups tomato juice
1 can (6 oz.) tomato paste
2 tablespoons chili sauce
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon pepper, divided
2 teaspoon s salt, divided
1 1/2 pounds ground beef or turkey
1/2 lb shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Prepare pasta shells as directed on box and preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

*Pour Over Sauce

Saute garlic and 1/2 cup chopped onion in oil. Add tomato juice, tomato paste, chili sauce, sugar, 1/4 teaspoon pepper and 1 teaspoon salt. Simmer 10 minutes.

*Meat Filling

Brown ground beef and remaining onion. Drain excess fat. Add remaining seasonings and half of the cheese. Cook 5 minutes. Stir in 1/4 cup of the pour over sauce. Remove from heat and cool 5 minutes.

Pour half of the sauce in a 3 quart casserole dish. Stuff shells with filling. Place in casserole dish and top with remaining sauce. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese. Bake for 30 minutes.
